Astropackers℠ is a digital forum of people who love or are curious about astrophotography, stargazing, camping/backpacking to enjoy witnessing the beautiful universe that we are part of.

Daniel, an amateur astrophotographer, and Chizuko, an avid hiker and backpacker, realized that each of our hobbies would be even more fun when enjoyed simultaneously and together.

As a husband-wife team we decided that we wanted to not only share our outings and showcase literally out-of-this-world images, but also create a space where the love of the cosmos converges with the love of the great outdoors. This original concept, which began when we lived in Washington state, leveled up after we moved to New Mexico. Soon after the move, an amazing piece of property that boasts Bortle Class 1 skies (the best possible for astronomy) came our way and convinced us to build a remote observatory AND do our part to keep New Mexico’s pristine dark skies from disappearing.
